Who Is Professor Clark ?
Who is Professor Clark? Well, like most people, I wear quite a few hats. I am a daughter of two amazing parents, both fortunately still with me, and both who have been educators and mentors for not only me, but for countless other young people throughout their lives. They gave me many gifts for which I am so very thankful, one of the most important being a great respect for the importance of education, and a true love for reading and the written word. I am also a sister to a younger brother, who I take great pride in. His accomplishments in business and as a citizen of the planet are quietly spectacular, and brother or not, he is one of the most exceptional people I have ever met, and I have met many people. He and his wife have two children, so I am also an aunt, which is a very cool thing, since I am single and have no children. Much that I teach about life and business, I have learned from my family. My love and appreciation of them is without bounds, and I am working on changing my time constraints to have more time with them to enjoy the process of loving and learning even more.
I am an educator. And I am educated a bit more every time I am in the classroom. I have a MBA in marketing with an emphasis on new venture analysis from The University of Tennessee, and I have taught Marketing at The University of Tennessee and Tusculuum College, and until recently I served as the interim head of the business department at Knoxville College, a HBCU in Knoxville, Tennessee. In 2002 I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, which has ended my time in the classroom for the moment, but I do hope to return to the classroom in the future. I do LOVE teaching.
I am a researcher. I specialize in one-on-one in depth interviews and focus groups. I have researched a wide variety of topics from flexible diamond abrasives to store brand cheese. Though I can research almost any topic, I have been building a large knowledge base in the areas of non-profit management, technology as a real cost saving tool for businesses, and the role of technology in education and grass roots organizations.
I am a consultant. I work with entrepreneurial ventures and new product concept development and implementation, as well as with non-profit organizations. I also facilitate workshops on board development, fundraising, writing a business plan, developing a working marketing plan, etc. I design custom training for clients to effectively meet their needs. As a consultant, I do not want to be part of your permanent payroll – I want to be that great investment you are so glad you made. Visit my corporate site for more information.
I am a volunteer. I volunteer time and services to a
few select non-profit organizations and to political causes that seek to level
the playing field between the haves and the have nots.
A few of my other hats are child of God, Black female, friend, writer, singer, dreamer, lover, advocate, warrior, ebony earth goddess, and I am sure a few others that I have not thought of, but basically I have the same complex closet of hats that most people do.
